Thomas Aquinas - Summa Theologiae

Mon. 8pm Eastern

Course Description: In this course students will read a selection of articles from the hallmark work of Saint Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologiae (left unfinished at his death in 1274). After a brief introduction to the Disputatio method as well as Thomas’ writing, we will do a close examination of select articles from all three parts of the Summa in an effort to understand his arguments conveyed by his syntax. This class will help start or continue the foundation in reading Thomas as he was meant to be read: in the Latin.
