Terms and Conditions
On this page you will find the course listings for the Fall 2022 session of Elementa Online. Our Fall 2022 term runs for ten weeks of classes: from September 25th to December 10th. The Fall term also observes a one-week break, whose timing will be determined by each instructor and communicated to students/parents during the course of the term.
Emails from teachers and course meeting links will be sent to the billing email address used to purchase the course; please make sure the email address used to place your order is a good way of contacting you.
Please enroll by September 18th, a week before the term begins, to allow for best administrative set-up. Sign-ups after this date will still be accepted, permitted that they come in before the first class session. However, if your enrollment comes in too close to the start of classes, there is a chance it might not be processed in time for your child to attend the first class meeting.
As a rule, Elementa Online classes only run if a minimum of two students enroll. If the class you purchased is at risk of not running, Paideia will contact you before the start of the term to discuss alternative options, and/or tuition refunds.
Sections are capped at 8 students. If your preferred class section is sold-out, please fill out this waiting-list form. We will notify you if a spot becomes available.
Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions prior to registering.
Description of Elementa Online
Elementa Online is an online course in introductory Latin for elementary and middle school students using Paideia's Elementa curriculum. The program includes ten weekly, hour-long live classes with an instructor and a small learning pod of other students. Topics covered include Latin vocabulary and grammar as well as Roman history and mythology. In addition to the weekly classroom sessions, the program includes online access to instructional videos, quizzes, and other learning materials.
This program welcomes elementary and middle school students from the ages of 8 to 12 years old who wish to learn Latin, and by doing so improve their English literacy. We host separate classes for beginner students and students who are continuing through the Elementa curriculum from our previous sessions.
If you have questions about which section is appropriate for your child, please write to email@example.com.
Platform and Course Materials
Sessions for Elementa Online will meet once a week for 10 weeks using free video conferencing software (Google Meet); each class session lasts one hour. All that is necessary to participate is a computer, an internet connection, and the Elementa student workbook.
Students may purchase the Elementa workbook here.
Elementa Online tuition is non-refundable, except in the event that we are unable to run the course you purchased (e.g. due to low enrollments)
If you need to cancel your child’s enrollment or withdraw them from the class, you may be eligible for a 50% credit, to be used toward a future Elementa Online course. In order to be eligible for this credit, you must notify firstname.lastname@example.org of the student’s withdrawal before the second class meeting has taken place.
Letters of Completion
If you need official proof of your child’s participation in Elementa Online, you may request a certificate of completion. To do so, please write to email@example.com once the term has ended, cc-ing the course instructor.
If you would like to sign your child up for an Elementa Online course, but cannot afford it, limited scholarships are available. Please apply to the Reginald Foster Fund, describing which course you are interested in (title, instructor, meeting schedule). Scholarship applications received by September 16th will receive best consideration.
Family discounts are available for students sharing the same video feed. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
