Latin Sight Reading (Intermediate Latin Reading)
Fri., 11am (U.S. Eastern Time)
*Please note that this course will run only if two or more students enroll.
Course Description : In this class we will practice and develop the skill of sight reading Latin texts without the use of a dictionary or reference grammar. Latin education today often favours a more analytical method that teaches students to approach ancient texts as a kind of “puzzle” that needs to be solved. In contrast, in this class we will focus on reading large blocks of text in a more intuitive way. If students are interested, we will also discuss the theoretical background of sight reading, the best techniques for success as well as the modern research on second language acquisition.
